Project: Dogtober 2011
Client: Assistance Dogs Australia
Description: Design postcards, posters and banner for The Big Dogtober Walk 2011 and Dogtober 2011. Dogtober is the month dedicated to celebrate all dogs around Australia, by hosting a doggie themed event or activity to raise funds and awareness for Assistance Dogs Australia, so they can train more super pups to help people with physical disabilities.

The client specified there must be an image of a person walking with a dog shown. Dogtober is an event to celebrate all kinds of dogs, big and small, and anyone can participate, so I illustrated various people walking with their dogs. They all unite together to make a difference.

This postcard was expected to be “out of the box”, interesting, or usable, not just a normal one. I was inspired by the images of assistance dogs always wearing capes. They are quite everyday superheros to those people who need them. The postcard was designed to encourage people to take part in Dogtober. With perforated cuts around the eyes, people can push them out easily and use the card as a mask like a superhero.
